She was born on August 13, 1929 in Burke County to the late Adam And Emmie Collett.
Mayme worked and retired from Burke Mills, Inc. and was a lifelong member of Willow Tree A.M.E. Church, where she was a member of the Inspirational Choir and Stewardess Board.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Collett of Morganton, Catherine Corpening of Morganton, Calvin (Michelle) Collett of Morganton, and Linda Rutheford of Asheville; sister, Clara Collett of Morganton; along with a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mayme was preceded in death by her husband Edward Rutherford; and brothers, Adam Collett, Jr. and Wilson Collett.
