Mrs. Burnette was born in McDowell County on April 11, 1935 to the late Joseph Otis Noblitt and Gerturude Grindstaff Noblitt. She was employed with McDowell County Schools as a cafeteria manager until her retirement.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin James Burnetter; two daughters, Rebecca Ann Burnette and Lynell Burnette; and brother, Herman O. Noblitt.
Surviving is her daughter Vicki Dyer and husband Kent of Old Fort. She is also survived by five sisters-in-law and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Salem Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Hawkins officiating.
