

Sharon Fox Griffin, 70, passed away February 14th, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born on September 15th, 1948 in Morganton, NC to Jacob and Mary Fox. She married her husband, Wayne Griffin, on October 15th, 1967. She began her career as a lay midwife in Florida attending home deliveries. After moving back to North Carolina she was a jack of all trades at Grace Hospital working everywhere from the obstetric unit to the ER to the operating room. She retired from Brooks-Howell Home.
Sharon raised three children of her own, but she was a mother to so many more. She influenced the lives of so many young people in such a positive way. She was the type of person that whatever someone needed, she would figure out how to get it. There are countless lives that are better because of her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Kimberley Ann Griffin Burns, two infant daughters, Joanna and Michelle, and a brother, JC Fox.
In addition to her devoted husband, she will be lovingly remembered by her children Jonathan (Allecyn) Griffin and Micheal Griffin; son in law Scott Burns; grandchildren Kandice (Stephen) Gallion, Patrick Whittle, Lane Griffin, Megan Bartlett, Lauren Griffin, Riley Griffin, and Ben Griffin; great grandchildren Quinn Gallion, Shaylee Griffin, and Mistaya Myer; and four siblings.
A memorial service honoring the life of Mrs. Sharon Fox Griffin will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Kirksey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Bunton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
