

Shelby Ozmun, age 69, of Glen Alpine, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Shelby was born the son of the late Floyd Ozmun and Frieda Stelzig Ozmun on November 11, 1944 in San Antonio, TX.
Shelby served his country honorably in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Shelby will be greatly missed.
Along with his parents, Shelby is preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Dunn, James Dunn and John Robertson.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 32 years, Becky Ozmun of the home; two sons, Matthew Roy Ozmun and his fiancé, Megan Watts and Christoper Riddle, all of Glen Alpine; a daughter, Shelby Renee Whisenant and her husband, William of Valdese; five sisters, Delice Curly and her husband, Ken of Tennessee, Kathleen Mills of Morganton, Mary Kimmons and her husband, Buddy of Lillington, Jo Griffin and her husband, Earl of Spring Lake and Charlene Hambrick and her husband, Dale of Fayettville; two brothers, Arthur Ozmun and his wife, Irma of Germany and Roy Ozmun and his wife, Judith of Morganton.
Shelby is also survived by six grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and four special dogs, Abby, Dasiy, Dutches and Poochy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the memorial chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Carswell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow at McDowell Independent Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
