Born to the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Brown) Moench in Chestnut Hill, PA, “Susie” travelled the country by motorhome in her 20s and settled in the mountain resort town of Park City, UT, where she gave birth to her son Cody Duket (Erin). She later moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where she studied to be an X-Ray Technician, a vocation she loved. She met and married Darrell Gullett and the pair welcomed daughter Mackenzie and son Jesse.
Susie was born on Earth Day - April 22 - so fitting for this kind, gentle, compassionate citizen of the world. She loved the natural wonder of the places she lived – the mountains, the ocean, and finally the woods and vistas of North Carolina. She offered a helping hand and safe harbor to all creatures, human and animal. Susie always made the house feel full and lively by playing all her favorite music throughout the day - with a particular fondness for playing Elton John’s discography. Her humor, warmth, charm, and huge heart will be missed by her loving family, including her siblings Anne Murray and Bill, Robin and Bettina Moench, the late Barbara Connett, stepson Joe Gullett (Alice), one granddaughter, another granddaughter due in February, seven nieces and nephews, and her grandniece and nephew.
A private memorial service will be held on Earth Day 2021.
Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton has the honor of serving the family.
