Virginia Ann Foster Frazier, age 90, of Lenoir, NC passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023. Virginia was born the daughter of the late Walter Alvin Foster and Edith Sophronia Powell Foster on April 20, 1932 in Lenoir. Virginia was the youngest of 10 children. She was raised by parents who taught her about family values, a strong work ethic and Christian beliefs. These virtues were woven together and made her the amazing person she became throughout her life.
Our mother and father (Frank Frazier) were high school sweethearts. Soon after graduation, Frank enlisted in the US Army/Air Corps and married his beloved “Ginny”. Over the next 28 years the family had to pack up and move 14 times. These moves included assignments in Japan, Italy, Germany and many other Air Force bases in the USA. Mom worked hard to keep a proper home and her family together.
Ginny, as she preferred to be called, worked in health care her entire life. Her career included volunteering in the Red Cross to providing psychiatric counseling in some of the most renowned institutions such as the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Charles River Psychiatric Hospital in Wellesley. Ginny's work ethic was uncompromised, and she received many accolades from her peers for her diligence and outstanding patient care. One of Ginny's proudest achievements was when she earned a bachelor's degree from Simmons College in Boston. After her retirement, Ginny volunteered in many church activities, including singing in the choir. Ginny was raised in the church, and serving God was the focus her life.
Along with her parents, Ginny is preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank Frazier, Jr., a daughter, Karen Johnson and a grandson, John Edward Myers.
Those left behind to cherish Ginny's memory include three children, Ramona Alba (Gaetano) of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Frank Frazier, III of AZ, and Melissa Morris of Albany, NY, a sister, Carolyn Crisp of Morganton; a sister-in-law, Barbara Frazier of N. Hollywood, CA, and granddaughter, Vera Rogers of Whitter, CA; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Ginny and Frank celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1999. Sadly, this was the same year Frank was called to God. Yet today, and without a doubt, "Ginny and Frank are together forever".
A "Celebration of Ginny's Life" will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the St. Paul AME Church in Lenoir with the Rev. Kim Moss officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family acknowledges and deeply appreciates your fond memories and expressions of sympathy that may be shared at www.kirkseyfh.com for the Frazier family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Paul AME Church.
Kirksey Funeral Home of Morganton has the honor or serving the family.
