William was born in Trenton, New Jersey to his late parents, Clemmy Gilmer Murphy and Ola Mae Buff Murphy.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kerry Murphy; sister, Teresa Murphy.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sherry Murphy; daughter, Cindy Wright (husband, Steven); brothers, John Bumgarner (wife, Ruby); sisters, Becky Crump (husband, Robert) and Amy Murphy; grandchildren, Connor, Logan, and McKenna Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held for Bill on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Morganton Freedom Church Of God in Morganton, North Carolina at 3:00PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00PM to 3:00PM.
