Alta Genese Poole

Alta Genese (Short) Poole, age 83, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 21, 2015. Genese was a member of Legion Memorial Methodist Church in Big Stone Gap, VA and later moved her membership to Morningside Baptist Church. She was born in Calvin, VA and was one of seventeen children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ballard Thurston Short and Susie Lillie Flanary; her beloved husband of 60 years, Carson Poole; and eleven siblings. Genese is survived by her daughters, Leesa and Kathy; grandsons, Brody and Tony; siblings, Pauline Allen, Retha Gilbert, Annell Hall, Larry Wayne Short, and Carol Matthews; and many nieces and nephews. Genese and Carson owned Poole's Furniture and Upholstery in Big Stone Gap, VA where they lived for many years before moving to Morristown, TN. Genese was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed her flower garden, crafts, baking and volunteering at Rose Center and Morningside Baptist Church in Morristown. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Sexton officiating. Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens. Special music will be provided by Joyce Bunch and special message and prayer by Brett Greene. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m on Friday prior to the services at the funeral home. Stubblefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
