Born on August 9, 1945, Barbara devoted her life to her faith and to the people she loved. To her family, she was simply “Nanny”—a name that came to mean unconditional love, comforting hugs, a listening ear, and always knowing someone was praying for you.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Arnold Kenerly Jr., with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Geneva Nichols, and her sister, Joyce Ferguson.
She is survived by her children, Kim Richards and Ricky Kenerly; her grandchildren, Lindsey Richards, Tiffany Campbell, and Kylee Wilhelm; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Cooper Campbell, Jackson Campbell, and Roan Richards.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, and the very best Nanny. She had a generous heart and was always thinking of others. She was quick to offer a hug, hold your hand, make sure you had something to eat, or simply call to check in. She faithfully prayed for those she loved, often shared Scripture that had encouraged her, and made sure her family always knew they were loved.
She never missed celebrating the special moments in the lives of those she loved. Whether big or small, she was always there—always present, always encouraging, and often with a camera in hand to capture the memories.
Nanny was spunky, sassy, and never afraid to tell you exactly what she was thinking. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people laugh. She was beautiful inside and out, and her kindness, strength, and unwavering love will continue to live on through the family she cherished so deeply.
Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the love she poured into our lives and the example she set. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
