
Betty was preceded in death by; father, Thomas "Tom" M. Gilmore, mother, Sara Branham, and brother, Dr. Richard Lynn Gilmore.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Leon Davis; Sister-in-Law, Mary Lynn Gilmore; sons Kerry (Doreen), and Mark (LaVern); and grand-daughter, Sarah.
Betty was born in Topeka, Kansas August 2, 1929 and (at that time) was known to be the shortest baby born. Her and her family moved to Kentucky where she attended grade school, and later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where Betty graduated from Walnut Hills High School. The family then moved to Columbus, Ohio, only to move back to Cincinnati, Ohio where Betty graduated from UC Cincinnati, Ohio as a member of the ZTA Sorority. Betty then moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where she graduated from Knoxville College and went on to work at Oak Ridge. Betty and her friend Ann Caylor, met Jack at the Air Force Base in 1953 and 2 years later, Betty and Jack got married on July 1st, 1955 in the Methodist Church in Fountain City, Knoxville Tennessee.
Together, Jack and Betty lived in Connersville, Tennessee, where Betty worked at Connersville Jr. High School as a secretary until she retired. They had 2 sons, Kerry Lee, and Mark Steven. When Betty retired in 1991, she and Jack moved to Bean Station where Betty's mother, father, and brother Lynn Gilmore lived.
Graveside services, with Tim Strange officiating, will be held at Hamblen Memory Gardens on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Family and close friends are welcome to attend.
