For more than 15 years, Brenda served as a compassionate CNA at Morristown Hamblen Hospital. In a role that calls for patience, tenderness, and strength, she met each day with a loving heart—bringing comfort to patients and reassurance to families, and leaving behind a legacy of care that will be remembered by many.
Brenda was a proud member of Slate Hill Baptist Church, where her faith and devotion were reflected in the gentle way she lived and the steady presence she offered within her community.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, William Milton Smith Sr.; her mother, Hazel Smith; her brothers, Joe David Smith and William Milton Smith Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Noah "Salty" Varney; her daughter, Penny Nola Varney-Robinson (Tim); her brothers, Terry Lane Smith (Chris) and Jerry E. Smith (Tammy); her sisters, Patricia Murphy (Donnie), and Michelle Denise Hatfield (Rick); her grandchildren, David Ballard (Dana), Daniel Ballard, and Tacha Forshey; her great grandchildren, Harper Rae Ballard, Maverick Alexander Ballard, and Sutton Gale Ballard; her special friends, Floyd and Geraldine Farley, Mike Jarell, Billie Jo Powers as well as numerous other close friends and neighbors; and her beloved cat, Callie.
