OBITUARY

David Roy Wormington

July 4, 1965November 21, 2019

David Wormington, 54, of Whitesburg, Tennessee passed peacefully at Greeneville Community Hospital East in Greeneville, Tennessee on Thursday, November 21, 2019 with his loving family surrounding him. David was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a dedicated employee of Dawn of Hope of Johnson City, Tennessee as Manager of the I81 Greene County Rest Areas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Bess Cunningham. Survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Carla Wormington of Whitesburg, Tennessee; daughters, Angela Thacker and partner, Sara Walker of Bonifay, Florida, Jessica DeHart and wife, AiJay DeHart of Huntington, West Virginia; brother, Ricky Gordey and Debbie Gordey of Morgantown, West Virginia; and sister, Vicki Gordey Moore of Fairmont, West Virginia. David was also survived by two grandchildren, Shaylin Mays “Shaggy” and Hayden Ross, with an expected grandson, AiJryian DeHart, due in February 2020. He also had several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to the care of John Cardwell of Dawn of Hope. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Greeneville Community Hospital East for the loving care provided to David. David was always smiling, always joking around to fellow employees. I don't think I never saw him, when he wasn t smiling. He will be missed greatly, and many prayers sent for his family.
