Edgar Messer

Edgar Messer, age 86, of White Pine, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, Saturday, February 21, 2015. Edgar was born January 25, 1929 in Bell Hill, TN to Dad and Winnie (Henderson) Messer. He was saved and baptized in the name of the Father, son and Holy Ghost at an early age.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Winnie Messer; brothers, A. D., Thurman, and Jessie Messer; sister, Delilah Ball, Lydia Medley, Anner McGaha; grandson, Tony Turner; granddaughter, Lisa Sinard Purkey; and great-great-grandson, Chad Strange. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Illa Moore Messer; sons, Mike (Helen) Messer, EJ (Darlene) Messer, and Randy (Janice) Messer; daughters, Doris (Roger) Hall, Rose (Robert) White, Linda (Michael) Taylor, and Jean (Gill) Sinard. He was also blessed with 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Taylor, Rev. Ronnie Messer and Rev. Bill Bull officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home on Tuesday at 12 noon to go in procession to Point Pleasant Cemetery in Newport for a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6 – 8:00 p.m. prior to the services. Stubblefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
