Emily Ann Trusler, age 87, of Morristown passed away very peacefully Thursday, May 1st at Terra Bella Assisted Living surrounded by loved ones. She was born to Virgil and Beatrice Cavender in Huntington, WV, the oldest of 3 children. She was a "preacher's kid" and definitely gave her parents headaches with her antics throughout the years.
In 1973, she married the widowed Dr. Powell Trusler and moved to Morristown. She immediately became an active member of First Baptist Church and many civic organizations. She become a mother to Mark Trusler, who was 15 at the time and step-mother to Bill and Powell, Jr. Emily was a people person, known for her laughter and fun. She sang in the church choir, taught youth Sunday School and was a member of WMU. She loved the Lord Jesus and was saved as a young girl. Emily was a 50 year member of GFWC Ladies Reading Circle, was active in the Medical Auxiliary, the Pink Ladies at M-H Hospital, and briefly worked at East TN Diamond. The problem with working at a jewelry store was that she spent more than she made and Dr. Trusler soon realized she wasn't actually contributing to the household income, but depleting it.
Emily is preceded in death by her parents, The Rev. and Mrs. Virgil Cavender, her husband, Dr. Powell M. Trusler, step-son: Powell M. Trusler and granddaughter: Lindsey Trusler.
She is survived by her sons: Mark (Debbie) and Bill (Lisa) of Morristown; Grandchildren: Powell M. Trusler (Hero) of Weeki Wachee, FL; John (Ashley) Trusler of Nolensville, TN; Will Trusler of Austin, TX; Austin (fiancée Becca) of Nolensville; great grandchildren Jackson and Luke Trusler, Nolensville, TN; brother: Jim (Virginia) Cavender of Memphis; sister: Betty Stone of St. Petersburg, FL; nieces: Kelly (Jody) Hill; Molly Cavender and great niece Hadley; Lesley Cavender, husband Scott Lockman and great nephew: Oliver Lockman; nephews: Daniel (Linda) Stone and Brandon Stone; great nephews: Braxton and Grayson Stone.
