Born on December 8, 1928, in Hawkins County, Tennessee, Emma lived a life marked by unwavering faith, love, and service. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart and faithfully served Him throughout her life.
Emma dearly loved her family and treasured every opportunity to spend time traveling with them. Some of her happiest memories were made on train trips and while visiting historical places. She was also a talented quilter, creating beautiful quilts that reflected the love, patience, and care she shared with everyone around her.
She was preceded in death by her father, William McKinley Woods; her mother, Ella Mae (Wice) Woods; her brothers, R.T. Woods, Bill Woods, Jimmy Woods, and Ed Woods; and her sister, Louise “Tensie” Stephenson.
She is survived by her sisters, Betty Loveday and Dorothy Akard; her many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and extended family members who will cherish her memory and the example of faith she leaves behind.
Graveside services will be held at Hamblen Memorial Gardens in Morristown, Tennessee, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Jefferson Park in Dandridge, Tennessee, for the loving care, kindness, and support they provided to Emma and her family throughout her final year.
Though she will be greatly missed, her family rejoices in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior. Emma would want everyone who reads this to know that the hope she lived by is found in Jesus Christ, and she looked forward to the day she would be reunited with those who share that same faith.
