Joyce G. Arterburn, age 69, went to be with Jesus surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. She fought until the end. Her words in the last days were “I’m trying.” She also assured us that she was God’s child. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She was a strong and hardworking woman who loved her family. She gave to us even when she was not able to, as long as we did not go without, she was happy. A few words describe her: Loving, Forgiving, Strong and Courageous! She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Grant Arterburn; mother, Ruby Seal; father, George Seal; brothers, Ronnie and Kenny Seal; niece, Kim English; and son-in-law, Steve Ratliff. She is survived by her husband, Olen Burchell of Whitesburg; daughters, Beverly (Raymond) Estes of Whitesburg, Robin Arterburn of Whitesburg; son, William Arterburn of Whitesburg; stepdaughter, Mandy (Kenny) Miller of Whitesburg; grandchildren, Jessica and Brian Logsdon, Megan Arterburn, Kara Bunch, Vanessa and Philip McElhaney, William Arterburn Jr, Katondra Arterburn, Jeremiah and Elizabeth Ray, Stephanie and Chris Godin, Sean Taylor, Kody Taylor, Kenny Miller; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ritta Johnson, Judy Ray, Janice Greene; half-sister, Tammy Trent; many more nieces, nephews, great-nephews; as well as an abundance of family and friends. Nana is the strongest woman I know. She has always been my #1 fan. Nana is one of the only people I know that loved us all unconditionally. She is my rock & she set the foundation for who I am. Without her I wouldn't be who I am today. I love you to eternity and back! God decided long ago that you would be our Nana and for that I will praise Him always. Nana, you are the brightest light in the darkest of times. Even now, Heaven shines a little brighter to me. I can't wait to see you again.
