Jerry Lynn Bowlin, age 68, of Morristown, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends. He was a loving father and grandad. Jerry served in the US Army Infantry in the Vietnam Conflict and in the Reserves for 5 years after that. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Prior to his 30-year service with the USPS, from which he retired, he was an expert builder. He still enjoyed building until his health declined. Preceding him in death were his parents, Lewis and Zetta Mae Bowlin; brother, Ron Darnell; sister, Judy Bowlin; and former wife and mother of his children, Betty Lois Lambe.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Burzell; son, Jason Bowlin; granddaughter, Piper Emerson Burzell; brother, Jim (Sue) Bowlin; special friends, Dwayne and Kathy Gibson; several extended family members; and his beloved pets, Dusty and Dobby.
The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Family and friends will meet in East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville on Thursday at 1:45 p.m. for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to a Veterans program of your choice.
