Jewell was a dedicated professional, having worked at Charter Communications for almost 30 years. Additionally, she served as the Promotional Secretary at First Baptist Church, where her commitment and service were appreciated.
In her personal time, Jewell found joy tending to her flower garden, where she was happiest digging in the dirt and nurturing her plants. Her passion for gardening was a reflection of her nurturing spirit.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 43 years Jerry L. Barker, brother Paul A. Pealer, sister Ruth Bearfield, and nephews Eddie Bearfield and Bobby Pealer.
Jewell is survived by her loving son Kerry L. Barker, adopted granddaughter Amber Woolard Walker, niece Amber Smith, nephew Ricky Bearfield, great nieces Kayla Lewis and Brandolin Bearfield, great nephew Dustin Pealer, and very special friends Nina Martin, Priscilla Gass, Erma Barker, Ginger Ann Brown Sexton, and Shelia Brooks.
Friends and family will gather in the Chapel at Stubblefield Funeral Home Friday, November 14, 2025 from 1:00PM-2:00PM for visitation. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM with Rev. Steve Smith officiating and the entombment to follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ricky Bearfield, Dustin Pealer, Brad Smith, Adam Lewis, Scott Boruff, Richard Estes and Spencer Shelton.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Covenant Health Hospice, Amedisys Home Health or Serenity House.
Jewell's legacy is defined by her unwavering care for others and her many acts of kindness. Her presence brought warmth to those around her, and her memory will continue to inspire acts of generosity and compassion.
