

Loyd (Pop) Sexton, age 95 of Newport went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2010, with his wife and daughter at his side. He was preceded in death by his son; James Loyd Sexton, parents; Tom and Myrtle Sexton, brothers; Elmer Sexton, Red Sexton and B.R. “Bob” Sexton, sisters; Margaret Felknor, Mary Helen Ashland and Hazel Parker, and special cousin; Ed (Bud) Sexton. He is survived by his wife of 31 years; America (Merk) Sexton, (step) children; daughters and son-in-laws; Sureda Faye and N.J. Trent of Russellville, Betty Jean and Richard Shell of Newport, sons and daughter-in-laws; Wayne and Geneva Dalton of Dandridge and Miles Dalton of Thorn Hill, special daughter-in-law; Judy Dalton of Greeneville, Earnest and Candance Dalton of Dandridge, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, special cousin, Ronnie Sexton of Knoxville, special life long friend; J.C. (Rip) Holdway, special neighbors; Kathleen Southerland and Clayton and Kathy Fox. A special Thanks to Bybee United Methodist Church and a special thanks to the nurses at Lifecare center, St. Mary’s in Jefferson City and to Heritage Center and Dr. Lance Patton. Loyd was a World War 2 veteran and fought battles in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was in the 104th Infantry Division of the Timber Wolves. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Award, Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star. He was retired from the City of Morristown. Pop was known for his witty sense of humor and loved gardening and whittling. He will be dearly missed by all that Loved him. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens with Military Honors provided by V.F.W. Post # 5266 officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. Arrangements by Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown, Tennessee.
