Margie Gail Lakins

Margie Gail Lakins, 67, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 22, 2026. Born September 7, 1958 in Morristown, she was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church for many years and accepted Jesus into her heart as a young girl. She loved her family and was most proud of her daughter and grandsons. She enjoyed watching them participate in their various activities. Given the name Melmo by sweet nieces Lucy and Ella, she became Melmo to all she cared for.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John A. Lakins Sr. and Janie Kate Noe Lakins. Infant brother Ellis Ray Lakins. Brothers William Henry (Buster) Lakins and John Alex (Johnny) Lakins Jr. Sister, Sarah Jane Fox and brother-in-law Harold Lynn Fox.

Survivors include daughter Ashley Hill, son-in-law Brad Hill and grandsons, Brody and Kael Hill all of Johnson City, TN. Brother Larry (Sandy) Lakins, Sisters-in-law Peggy Lakins and Bobbie Lynn Lakins all of Morristown and a host of cherished nephews, nieces and cousins including special nephew Robert and special friend Linda.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Stubblefield Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 pm with Rev. Kenny Cole officiating.

Family and friends will gather at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am graveside and interment service officiated by Rev. Roger Porter.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 2001 Macedonia Road, Morristown, TN 37814 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) in honor of Kael Hill, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
