Marie Brooks

Marie professed her faith in Christ at an early age at Blair's Creek Baptist Church in Tazewell, TN. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitesburg.

Marie married Donald Brooks on May 22, 1953 in Tazewell, they were married for 68 years before his passing in 2022.

Marie worked alongside Donald at Sky City Barber Shop, Brooks Barber Shop and Russellville Barber Shop. Marie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Hazel and Everett Sandefur; infant son: Allen Brian Brooks; grandson: David Scott Brooks; brother: Kenneth Sandefur and several brother's-in law and sister's-in-law.

She is survived by her sons: David (Jackie) Brooks and Gary Brooks. Granddaughter: Megan Brooks; great grandson: Hank Jarnagin; great granddaughters: Eliza Jarnagin and Stella Brooks. Sisters: Alene Campbell of Tazewell and Alma Williams of Haskell, TN. Brother: Jim (Edna) Sandefur of Biloxi, MS. Sister-in-law: Phyllis Brooks of Oklahoma. Brother's-in-law: Kenneth Brooks and Ray Brooks of Tazewell, TN. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her special caretakers: Brenda Winstead, who is like a daughter, having cared for both Donald and Marie, along with Kathy and Susan and Amedisys Home Health. Her wonderful caretakers, nurses and At Home Primary Care have been a blessing for Marie and her family.

Visitation with her family will be Friday, Feb. 6, 2026 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Stubblefield Funeral Home.

Graveside and entombment services will be held in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum of Hamblen Memory Gardens at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026. Rev. Steve Smith officiating.
