
He was a longtime member of Talbott Baptist Church where he served in the role as Deacon for many years.
While a teenager, he became a Merchant Marine, then joined the Army for 4 years, followed by becoming a police officer in Winston-Salem, NC. After starting his family, he became a truck driver with McClain Trucking for 3 years, then Roadway Express for 30, from which he retired. He was a member of the Teamsters Union for the 33 years he drove. After retirement, he had many other roles so he could support his family that he loved dearly. Which included a school bus driver, a security guard and many many other jobs.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents: Ray and Norma Roark; brothers: Ellis (Carol) and Boyce Roark and his wife of 46 years, Betty Roark.
He is survived by his sons: Michael (Brenda) Roark and Kevin Roark. Grandchildren: Kaleb Roark, Megan (Andrew) Clouse and Allison Roark. Great granddaughter: Raelynn Duff. Brother: Ivan (Vickie) Roark and sisters: Shirley (Blufford) Eldreth and Janice (Roger) DeBoard, sister-in-law: Etheleen Roark and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan.12, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Stubblefield Funeral Home with funeral services following at 6:00.
Family and friends will gather at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026 in Community Baptist Church Cemetery in Bulls Gap for graveside services.
