Mary Agnes Carpenter, age 88, of Morristown, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 3, 2021. Mary was a proud member of Calvary Baptist Church and had retired from her career at Shelby Williams. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was kind and soft spoken, while also hilarious, generous, and when need be, a spit-fire. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of every life she touched. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Carson; daughter, Caron; grandson, Cody Adkins; parents, Witt and Abby Dixon; sisters, Phyliss Brady and Susie Collins; and brothers, Lloyd Dixon, Jerry Dixon and Dee Dixon.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Claud) Hawkins, Patty (Ronnie) Holder, Lisa (Ted) Adkins; sister, Betty Carter; brothers, Witt Dixon Jr, Ronald Dixon; special friends, Eve Price and Edith Hensley; along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Friends may call at their convenience on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from Noon to 5:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet in Hamblen Memory Gardens on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 1:45 p.m. for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service with Rev. Larry Parrott officiating.
The family wishes to give our most sincere thanks to the Adkins family, along with the nurses, Sherry and Vickie, of Avalon Hospice for the exceptional care, concern and dedication that they showed for Mary and her family during the most difficult of times. We are eternally grateful.
Until we meet again, we will carry you with us.
