

Mildred Hope Pitts Jones went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the age of 84. We rejoice in the knowledge that she now rests in the presence of Jesus Christ, the promise of eternal life that was the foundation of her faith.
Born in St. Charles, Virginia on July 25, 1941 to the late Harry Glenn Pitts and Flora Iona Anderson. She dedicated her life to being a loyal servant to God. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose unwavering Christian faith illuminated every aspect of her life. She was a dedicated member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
Mildred was predeceased in death by her husband Carl Franklin Jones. She is survived by her children, Vincen Allen (Robin) Jones, and Carlena Hope Jones (Shane) Alder, and her cherished grandchildren, Emily Jones (Justin) Kosiewska, Azlinn Hope Alder (Jarrod) Edwards, Zachery Allen (Fallyn) Jones and Alexandria Nichole Alder. Great grandchildren are Graham Ryan Kosiewska, Oliver Ryan Kosiewska, and Ezra Alder Edwards. Her predeceased brothers and sisters Clint Pitts, Jack Lee Pitts, Robert Gerald Pitts, Nancy Pitts Clements Ely, Jessie Pitts Glidewell, Margaret Pitts Edgar. Surviving James Richard Anderson. She had many other very special family members, friends, nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Raised in St Charles, Virginia with her siblings. She graduated from St Charles High School in 1961. She and Carl were married in 1961. She was a loving and devoted wife for 54 years. They had two children. They lived most of their life on the lake in Bean Station, Tennessee. They spent many days fishing, boating and enjoying lake life activities with family and friends.
She started out her career as a telephone operator in Cincinnati, Ohio. Then she and Carl moved to Tennessee. She attended secretarial training school and obtained certifications. She was employed as a machine operator for most of her career. Mildred was a talented homemaker, skillful cook, masterful garment maker, accomplished gardner, and an expert at knitting and crocheting. Her hobbies included fishing, reading and collecting rare coins.
As a mother she instilled the importance of faith, family, and hard work.
Mildred’s greatest joy was her four grandchildren and she was so proud of them. She loved taking them to church, reading to them, spending time with them and supporting them in everything they did. She followed them throughout their young life as their biggest cheerleader. She was always front row at every activity, most of the time with a video camera capturing every memory.
The family would like to thank Bob Edgar, Ruth Daugherty, Patsy Tate and many other relatives, close friends and church family for all of their love and support.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Harrell Cemetery in Bean Station, Tennessee on Friday, September 19 at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church in Mildred’s memory.
