Mildred Volena Spurgeon, age 89, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at home with her family who loved her dearly. She was a prayer warrior with a strong love for the Lord, reading and working in her beautiful flowers and garden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Spurgeon Jr; parents, Henry and Maggie Hurst; and brother, Rev. JH (Clara) Hurst.
She is survived by her children, Avery Spurgeon, Pamela (Brian) Bull, Irene (Terry) Myers; grandsons, Shawn and Brandon Nance; grandsons of the heart, Rylee Luster and Shawn Lindsey; brother, Von (Hiroko) Hurst; sisters, Reba Hutchison and Ester Richerson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home. Funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Billy Couch officiating. Family and friends will meet at Witt Cemetery on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. for a graveside service at Noon.
