

Robert Earl Mercer, Jr., 74, made his way to Heaven to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Friday 1-24-2025 in Whitesburg, Tennessee. He was Born in Macon, Georgia on December 22, 1950, to Robert Earl Mercer, Sr. and Frankie Louise Mercer.
A 1969 Graduate of Willingham High School, Robert attended Nashville Auto Diesel College and then returned to Macon to live and work. Robert was a fireman and mechanic, who then found his passion as an over the road truck driver for the next 35 years until his retirement from Yellow Freight in 2011. In his youth he was a member of several rock bands in Macon. His love of southern rock and country music never waned. Robert, an avid RVer, hot rod and motorcycle enthusiast, possessed the ability to build, customize or repair anything with wheels.
Robert always was the one you could depend on for help or advice. He had the ability to hold “court” on many topics, especially for those who had the opportunity to engage with him in conversation. A stranger to no one, and friend to many, his heart was open and accepting with love to family, friends and all who crossed his path.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Earl and Louise Mercer. He is survived by his loving wife Denise Mercer, sisters, Deborah James (PJ), Trish Weekley (Richard), one brother Randy Mercer, five children, Darrell Mercer (Tonya), Lisa Mercer Graham, April Chapman (Stewart), Adam Black, Amy Wallace (Adam), and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at The Church of God of Prophecy, 4589 Jones Road, Macon, Georgia 31216, Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 1:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. Casual attire requested.
Per his wishes in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A husband, brother, father, cousin, and friend sitting at the foot of the Lamb waiting for our arrival in Heaven
