Robert Lowell Young

Reverend Robert Lowell Young, of Morristown, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 27th 2022. Born June 24, 1938. Lowell is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sherry Ann Young. God blessed Lowell and Sherry with a full quiver including three children; Tammy Young, Lori Yeary and Bob Young, grandchildren; John, Angela, Chrystal, Joshua, Lauren, Cole, Blakley, Rebecca and Nicole, great grandchildren; Tyler, Johnathan, Jacob, Kaylee, Kayla, Ericka, Silas, McKenzie, Keagan, Hunter and Jaxson. Lowell was the son of John Silas and Virginia Ruth Young who’s Christian faith and modeling of Christian values provided Lowell with a firm foundation in his faith in Jesus Christ.

Lowell was ordained at Morningside Baptist Church in the Southern Baptist denomination and was honored to lead the local congregations of Friendship, Fairfield, Westview and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Churches. He graduated from Rutledge High School in 1954 where he excelled in academics and basketball. He joined the Air Force at the age of 17, and served honorably before coming back to East Tennessee and marrying Sherry Williams and starting his family and career. Lowell enjoyed a life full of family, pastoring, entrepreneurship, coaching, golfing and serving others. Lowell had multiple entrepreneurial ventures and retired from Lakeway Wood Products where he was the sole owner and operator.

Visitation with the family will be from 1p.m. - 3p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022 in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 5421 East Andrew Johnson Highway, Morristown, TN 37814. A military graveside will immediately follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens. Military Honors will be provided by Shaw Air Force Base Honor Guard and V.F.W. Post # 5266.

In lieu of flowers, the family would recommend donations be made to Morningside Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
