

Shirley M. Barnette, age 79, of Whitesburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. in her home. She was a member of Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Magnavox in Jefferson City. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James D. Barnette; parents, Hubert and Virgie French; brothers, Eugene (Ruby) French, Clyde (Bernice) French; sisters, Ruth (Jack) Gregg, Irene (Herbert) Beavers, Blanche (Henry) Cutshall, Wilma (Junior) Cutshall; four nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, Walter D. and Tava Barnette; and many brothers and sisters-in-law. Survivors include her son, James Carroll (Rose) Barnette; daughters, Margie Barnette, Virgie (James) Green; grandchildren, James Tyler Barnette, Brittany Barnette, Kristin (Noah) Smith, Kelsey (Ronnie) Farmer; great-grandchildren, Shaylan Walker, Jayce Smith, Kinsley Walker, J. D. Barnette, Zechariah Smith, Caleb Gifford, Matt Gibbs, Sharron Ann Farmer; sister, Juanita (Ruble) Eldridge; sisters-in-law, Dora Barnette and Faye Barnette; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 4 – 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Richard Long, Rev. Roger Porter, Rev. Franklin Barnette and Dr. Larry Parrott will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stubblefield Funeral Home.
