Stanley Rae Cross, Jr. (Stan the Man), 74, of Pauline, SC (formerly of Bean Station, TN) went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 29, 2018 after battling a short illness of liver cancer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was baptized at a young age, April 22, 1948. He was an Air Force Veteran, a member of the 278th National Guard Regiment in Morristown and a retired owner operator truck driver after driving for 49 years.
He was preceded in death by his father; Stanley Rae Cross Sr., mother; Charlotte Louella Fouche, step-mother; Margaret Cross Bishop, grandparents; Mary and Frank Youngblood (Mom Nita and Daddy Frank), brothers; Larry, Donnie and Joe Cross and uncles; Joe and Don Cross.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 55 years, Mabel Cross of Pauline, SC, two children; Ray and wife Stephanie Cross of Blythewood, SC and Melinda and husband Wayne Murray of Morristown, TN, six grandchildren; Hannah and Maya Cross of Blythewood, SC, Christina Woody, Jeremy Murray and Triniti Dalton of Morristown, TN and Patricia Murray-Coffey of Mooresburg, TN, eight great grandchildren; Marine Lance Corporal Christopher Woody, Kierra and Kassidy Bullion, Della Woody, KayDance Coffey, Andrew and Adrien Dalton and Jace Agnew, sister-in-law; Pat Cross of Falling Waters, WV, sister; Nancy Kane of Maynardville, TN and uncle, aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in the Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow officiated by Rev. George McCoy. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Hamblen Memory Gardens on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11 a.m. With military honors.
