Donald Robert Stevens, 89, of Locust Grove, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend, Donald’s greatest joy in life was the time he shared with the people he loved most.
Donald proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and Coast Guard. Following his military service, he began a distinguished career in aviation, working as an aviation mechanic for Eastern Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and Delta Air Lines. He brought great pride, dedication, and commitment to his work, qualities that also defined the way he lived his life.
Outside of his career, Donald enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Bulldogs on Saturdays. While he enjoyed these pastimes, nothing compared to the happiness he found in his family. He especially treasured the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Donna Cote; his grandchildren, Danny and Nicole Johnson, Spero and Chelsea Psareas, Garrett and Kendell Stevens, and Lindsey and Caleb Cunard; and his great-grandchildren, Kinlee and Kace Johnson and Oliver Psareas.
Donald will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his honorable service to his country, his dedication to his career, and the countless memories he created with those closest to him. His legacy will live on through the family he loved so dearly and through the generations who will carry his memory forward.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park Cemetery
