George "Gene" E. McLendon, 78, of Newnan, GA died August 1, 2023.Viewing will be held Tuesday, August 8 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at Thomas L Scroggs Funeral Home, 6362 S Lee St, Morrow, GA 30260. Graveside service to follow at City of Jenkinsburg Cemetery 211 Maple Dr. Jenkinsburg, GA 30234 at 2 P.M.He was born October 26, 1944, in Colombus, GA and a High School graduate of Central High School, Phenix City, AL. He served in the Army Reserves.He is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest C McLendon and Myra P. McLendon, as well as his brothers, Forrest McLendon, Jr. and B. Price Hayes.He is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Hammond and Bonnie-Sue McLendon, his sister, VivianMcLendon Brockway, half-sisters, Betty Jean Hall, Virginia Hayes Phillips, Patricia Brown, Kathy Landrum, Rochelle McLendon, Diane McLendon and Karen Dubois and his brother, Charles McLendon. He is also survived by his three grand-children Brandon Lane, Justin Hammond, and Destinee Jones, along with many great- grandchildren and nieces and nephews and long-time companion, Marie Leverette, along with her sons, Kenneth Samples, Charles Leverette, and Tim Leverette. He was loved by all that knew him.
