Rudy Lamar Barnett, age 80, passed away on July 9, 2026. Born on July 17, 1945, in Atlanta, Georgia, Rudy was the son of Lucille Threatt and John Thomas Barnett. A resident of Ellenwood, Georgia, Rudy will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude by all who had the privilege to know him.
Rudy’s life reflected steady dedication and a generous spirit—someone who gave of himself with a kind heart. He carried himself with the strength of a hard-working man, and those closest to him cherished the dependable presence he brought to family and friends.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Threatt and John Thomas Barnett; his brothers Bobby, Larry, and Gene; and his sister Juanita. He is survived by his wife, Janet Barnett; his children Crystal Phillips (Dwayne) and Kenneth Barnett (Angie); his brothers Johnny Barnett and Jackie Barnett; his sisters Debra Jones and Pat Roe; his grandchildren Meagan Barnett, Joshua Barnett (Wenni), Brenna Barnett (Ahmed), and Anna Grace Barnett (Akram); his sister-in-law Lynn Hart; and several nieces and nephews.
In his personal time, Rudy’s adventurous streak showed through in the things he enjoyed most. He was an avid horse-racing fan and would frequent Ebro. He was also enthusiastic about firearms and loved to shoot at the shooting range—interests he pursued with enthusiasm and appreciation for the moments they brought.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 beginning at 11:00 am with a service at 1:00 pm. Rudy will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park. His memory will remain a lasting blessing—held close by those who loved him and honored through the life he lived.
