Winston Lowe Hurst, 92, Forest Park, Georgia, was born in Durham, NC on December 10, 1923. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Forest Park, GA. He served as a paratrooper during WWII with the 511 th Airborne Regiment, mostly in the Philippine Islands. He retired from the National Weather Service after 30 plus years as a Meteorologist and Hydrologist. He is survived by his three children, Julia Hurst Meason, Martin Earl Hurst, and Roger Owen Hurst; two granddaughters, Angela Bower and Alea Hurst; two great grandchildren, Lauren Bower and Christopher Bower; one great great granddaughter, Raena Eden Bower. His funeral will be held in our chapel on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 11:00am. Dr. Reed Crumbliss will be officiating. Visitation, Tuesday from 5-8pm. Interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, NC on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:00am. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the General Fund at First Baptist Church of Forest Park.
