

George Charles Nyman, 96, of Elbe, passed away on the 18th of May, 2016 at Morton General Hospital. He was born on the 2nd of May, 1920, to George and Alice (Lutkens) Nyman, in Olympia, WA. George was orphaned at the age of 7 and raised by his grandparents. He attended Mineral grade school and went on to high school in Morton and Eatonville. After graduating he attended business school training.
George married the love of his life, Mildred Hope Ewing, on January 31, 1941. They were married for 50 years and together they raised 5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys, on the Lutkens family homestead in Elbe.
George spent his working years farming on the homestead raising milk cows, herefords and sheep. He also spent some time working in the logging industry at the saw mill in Mineral making shakes and shingles.
George loved gardening, music, travel, hiking with his dog and picking blackberries. His strong German character and deeply held Christian faith made him a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
