

Lorna Catherine Montague passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15 in Vancouver, WA. Lorna was born to Bill and Pearl Hill in Mineral, WA on March 9, 1928. On May 27, 1946 Lorna graduated from Morton High School. Lorna received her bachelors in Home Economics from College of Puget Sound in 1950, Lorna was a member of the Spurs (a sophomore honorary group), the Adelphian Concert Choir (still a viable and prestigious group) and the Lambda Sigma Chi Sorority. She married Chuck Montague, who she met in the 3rd grade, on June 30, 1950 at The Little Church on the Prairie in Lakewood, WA. She then went on to receive her bachelor of education in 1960 from the University of Puget Sound. Lorna worked as a grade school teacher at Castle Rock, Ridgefield and Evergreen School Districts, retiring in 1990 from Marion Grade School in Vancouver, WA. Lorna had taught for nearly 30 years.
Lorna was involved in many activities, she sang for the Vancouver USA singers as well as her church choir. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, bible study groups, “Sew and Sews” sewing group, and retired Marion School Teachers. She loved knitting; especially baby booties for all the new born babies; quilting hospital blankets; meetings and get-togethers with her groups, organizations, family and friends. She enjoyed flowers and watching wildlife from her living room window, reading books and going to the symphony and concerts. Lorna always enjoyed the special gift exchanges at Christmas with her sisters in law.
Lorna is preceded in death by her loving husband Chuck Montague and brothers in law, Don Montague and Gene Marcoe.
She is survived by her son Len Montague and his wife Carol; brother in law Larry Montague and sisters in law Barbara Morcoe, Shirley Montague, and Pauline Montague.
A Graveside Service for Lorna will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, April 25, at Mineral Cemetery. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, April 26, at the First Presbyterian Church at 4300 Main St. Vancouver, WA 98663. Memorials may be donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.LLS.Org), First Presbyterian Church in Vancouver, and The University of Puget Sound – Adelphian Concert Choir. Services are under the care of Brown Mortuary in Morton, WA.
