Warren Grey Dunlap, age 80, of Morton, Washington passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in Centralia, Washington. Warren was born February 15, 1941 in Tacoma, Washington to Juanita Dunlap and Gordan Dunlap. He was raised in mostly in Mineral, Washington along side his younger brother Richard Dunlap.
As a child, Warren took part in basketball and baseball as well as being a member of the boy scouts. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, as well as sports. Many remember Warren as being one of the best at kick-the-can. He was also very accomplished in school being a grade level above everyone else his age.
Warren attended Morton High School where he enjoyed history classes and learning from his favorite teacher Gib Greiter. During his time in high school, he played baseball and basketball and managed to be class salutatorian in 1959 when he graduated. He then continued on to college at the University of Washington. During his time there, Warren played a year of baseball for the university and achieved his Bachelor of Art in Education and his M.A. in Administration.
On September 1, 1961, Warren was married to wife Lois at the Assembly of God in Morton, Washington. They were married for almost 60 years. Together the two had three children, son Kevin and daughters Carmen and Mindy. Later in life the couple enjoyed seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Warren and Lois vacationed together to many places, his favorites included Washington D.C, Boston, Massachusetts, and Alaska.
Warren gave back to his community in many ways. One was returning to become a teacher at Morton High School where he taught history for 30 years as well as being the drivers education instructor for 44 years. He also was a part of Morton City Council, Mayor of Morton, and head of the Morton High School School Board.
Warren was preceded in death by father Gordan Dunlap and mother Juanita Dunlap.
Warren is survived by his wife, Lois Dunlap; son Kevin Dunlap (Jackie); daughter Carmen Parkison (Phil); and daughter Mindy Eastman (Allen); brother Richard Dunlap (Leslee).
Warren also leaves behind seven grand children, Kevin Dunlap, Jared Parkinson, Montana Eastman, Kalen Dunlap, Kolby Dunlap, Jacob Parkinson, and Jacie Dunlap, as well as two great grandchildren; Presley Jacob (Parkinson), and Weston Dunlap.
A celebration of life will occur Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Bob Lyle Community Center.
