Angelo Salvatore Messina, 86, of Ingram, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born to Phillip and Mary Messina on March 12, 1935 in Rockford, Illinois, where he attended West Rockford High School and graduated in 1953. Angelo joined the Marine Corp. in 1954 and while stationed in Kadena, Okinawa, he was a draftsman. After his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1957, he returned home to Rockford, Illinois, but eventually decided to return to Southern California, where with his wife Jacqueline they lived for 44 years. Finally, they moved to Texas, so they could be closer to their family in Moss Bluff, Louisiana. He was skilled in stained glass, and custom hand made carved carpet. In his early years, he enjoyed bowling and managed bowling centers for Brunswick Corporation and Tiger Corporation. He enjoyed fishing with Jacqueline and his family. One of Angelo's greatest enjoyments was playing bridge and winning at the poker tables. He also loved volunteering at the Thrift store in Ingram, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jacqueline Messina; son, David Messina and wife Pamela Messina of Moss Bluff, LA; two grandsons, Zachary Messina and Nicholas Messina; great granddaughter, Aria Messina; sister-in-law, Mary Messina; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Angelo is preceded in death by his brothers, Peter, Vincent, and Joseph Messina.
A Mass of Celebration will be held at St. Theodore Catholic Church on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 10:30am, with Father Aubrey Guilbeau officiating. Visitation will begin on Saturday at the church, beginning at 9:30am until the Rosary at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in his name, and/or church repairs in his name to St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff.
