Berna Dean Reeves

Berna was a native of Lake Charles who lived on a farm in Gillis most of her life with her husband. She loved to cook and care for her family who were the most important part of her life. Berna Dean was loved by all who knew her and will be missed greatly.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Colleen Reeves and Robert Banniettis of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Reeves of Golden Meadow, La; daughter-in-law, Patsy Reeves of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Chad Reeves of Lake Charles, Brandon Reeves and wife, April of Lafayette, and Amanda Reeves of Lake Charles; step-grandson, Randy Cherime and wife, Golden Meadow, La; three great-grandchildren, Evan Reeves of Lake Charles, and Isabella, and Grady Reeves of Lafayette; step-great-grandchildren, Shay Cherime and Trey Cherime of Golden Meadow; step-great-great-grandson, Rayne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Reeves, son, Russell Reeves, parents, Hazel and Homer Mathis, sister, Evelyn Hebert, and brother, Charles “Sonny” Mathis.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Saturday, March 17, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Gillis. Rev. Glenn George will officiate. Burial will follow in Reeves Garden Cemetery in Gillis, La. Visitation will be from 5-8:30 p.m. on Friday at Hixson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff and will resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday until time of service at the church.
