Like Cassandra, her obituary is unique, full of life and love.

Cassandra's story began on October 14, 1979 in Lake Charles, LA, the second daughter welcomed by Richard and Karen Guillory. Some could say she was the twinkle in her fathers eyes and a source of never ending joy in her family, a joy shared with everyone she met.

In middle school at Queen of Heaven she played basketball and also played soccer and baseball in the Moss Bluff Recreational League. eager to help her team mates on and off the field. Her attitude never faltering away from positivity, if she wasn't rooting for her teammates while playing in the game, she could be found eagerly cheering them on from the sidelines.

She attended Sam Houston High School, where she was a member of the band until she graduated in 1997. Cassandra, although suffering from congenital heart disease, she never let it keep her down and was always ready for the exciting adventures life brought her way. You could find her often enjoying the outdoors and everything that came with it, a quiet bicycle ride through the neighborhood to the hills and campsites found here or on many of the travels with her parents to Arkansas or Arizona. If she was not found traveling the roads or hiking the hills you'd find her enjoying the many outings with her sister; going on the hunt for that specific PlayStation game she needed for her collection, or getting her hair dyed Pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Like her love of family and life, she held a strong loving relationship with her Lord & Savior; reflecting the values instilled in her by her parents and her faith. She was welcoming to everyone; new and old who attended St. Theodore Catholic Church, she never turned down the chance to have a engaging conversation.

Cassandra was welcomed into Heaven by her grandparents; Louise and Ira Spalding and Edward M. and Lillian Gauthier.

Those left to cherish her memory are her parents; her sister Elaine (Keith) Fruge, her grandparents Earl and Sue Guillory; her Godparents Robert C. and Kathleen Suydam; with numerous cousins and extended family.

The family will welcome friends on Sunday July 26, 2020 at Hixson of Moss Bluff from 4pm to 8pm, with a Rosary beginning at 6pm. Visitation will resume Monday, July 27, 2020 at St. Theodores Catholic Church at 12pm until time of service. Funeral Mass will be led by Father Guilbeau beginning at 2pm. Cremation has been entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home and she will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Cemetery at a later date.

It’s hard to find right words to say at a time like this. But I found what I think are the perfect words.

God looked around his garden and found an empty space. He then looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest; God’s garden must to beautiful... He only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain; He knew that you would never be well on earth again, He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered, “Peace be thine.” It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone, for a part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
Send you my prayers and my love.

I really didn't get to know Cassandra early in life, we got to know each other in 2012 . We formed a bond that couldn't be broken. We had a lot of good times together. I am lucky enough to have talked to her before she went to meet her granny and paw paw in heaven. I know she is no longer in any pain or discomfort. I love you always, will never forget you. RIP Cassandra, I love you.

Cassandra lived a much longer/fuller life than was ever expected, and by making her own choices, lived it her own way.... by her own rules, and must be honored and remembered for this.

I will always have wonderful memories of Cassandra. She was the sweetest, most caring woman I've ever met. She was so full of life and brought joy to so many people. She touched many lives. When she smiled her eyes would light up. She could always make me feel better even on my worst days. She made me laugh constantly and loved to joke around. She was a fighter and gave it all she had until the very end. She will never be forgotten and will live on in my heart and many others forever. Rest in peace sweet angel. I love you with all my heart and always will until i draw my last breath. Until we meet again.

My favorite memory was when Cassandra hit Sarah in the head with a hoe on Thanksgiving Day thus continuing the Tradition of “The Edwards Family Thanksgiving Day Curse”. Sarah got staples and McDonalds French fries . Cassandra was most traumatized. We laughed about this every time we saw Cassandra. God Bless.

To my sister,
You were the sunshine in our lives. I love you to the moon and back. One of my favorite memories is us swinging on the swing set together singing Elvira at the top of our lungs. One more is when we would spend our days climbing and playing in Fred. You are now our Guardian Angel, I’ll keep looking up because that is where it all is.

Cassandra has been such a constant figure in my life, albeit miles and time has often come between us. Whenever we were able to get together, it was as though no time had passed. Cassandra was always a positive, inspiring and extraordinary person to know. She loved people and food, and had such a great passion for her crazy Cajun life. She loved so big, especially God and her family. I was blessed beyond measure to be counted one of her friends.
