David was a member of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe and was very proud of his Native American heritage. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy and fought in Vietnam.
He loved to sing…often having concerts in the living room when we were younger. David was a big George Strait fan. He also loved to dance and was known for his skills on the dance floor.
He watched football and was a faithful fan of the New Orleans Saints.
Fishing with his grandkids was a fun pastime for him. He took Avery fishing several times. They let Brooke join them once but when they got back, he said that she wasn’t allowed to go anymore because she caught more fish than them.
He loved all of his children and grandchildren and wanted to be active in each of their lives. He was ecstatic when he became a great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Amanda Runions.
Those left to cherish Davids memory are his son; Steven Barbery, three daughters; Kendra Burrows and husband Bill, Kimberly Barbery, and Kristi Ponthieux and husband Wilbert, two brothers; Sammy Barbery, and Henry Barbery, eight grandchildren; Jay, Kennedy, Keegan, Brooke, Avery, Cherie, Hannah, and Preston, two great-grandchildren; Riley, and a baby girl.
