Denezia Ashteneau

October 26, 1929March 2, 2012

Our beloved Denezia Mae (Dee)Ashteneau was called home by our father, Jesus Christ, on March 2, 2012 while surrounded by her four loving children. Funeral services will be held at Hixon’s Funeral Home in Moss Bluff, Louisiana on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 11:00am. The family will begin receiving friends on March 4, 2012 at 11:00am and continue until 9:00pm. On October 26, 1929 Delbert Sexton and Anna Campbell Sexton were blessed with the birth of their beautiful daughter, Denezia Mae (Dee), while living on their houseboat on the Mermentau River. In the brief 82 years that she graced this planet, Dee made an impact on any life she touched. She was well liked by those who met her, and deeply loved by those who knew her. Her hobbies were many, and always included her artistic talents and flair. Her creativity and skill were evident in her many works of art; especially her oil paintings, quilts, and items that she crocheted. Being the accomplished seamstress that she was enabled her to create beautiful clothes for her family, including cowboy shirts for her son, dresses for her daughters, and clothes for her grandchildren. Although she worked for several years for Kroger, she retired from Wal-mart after many years of dedicated service. Dee is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Anthony (Toby) Ashteneau and her brother-in-law, Jerry Ashteneau, both of Dequincy; her son, Randolph (Randy) Broussard and wife Cynthia Broussard of Ragley; her three daughters Molly Sue Myers of Moss Bluff, Loretta Ann Miller of Lake Charles, and Libby Paulette Ogea of Moss Bluff; one sister, Sylvia Batterbee of Moss Bluff, and two brothers Huey F. Sexton, of Lake Charles, and Delbert Sexton of Texas; 12 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Dee will be laid to rest beside her mother in the family cemetery on the Mermentau River not far from her birthplace. We welcome friends and family to join us in the celebration of her life and share stories of how Denezia Mae (Dee) Ashteneau made her mark on their lives.
