She was a native of Eunice and a resident of Lake Charles. Ethel was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. She was a loving wife of 49 years to Lucius Jr. as well as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family and the times she spent spoiling the kids. She loved doing crafts, Cajun music and sitting on the back porch watching and feeding birds.
Survivors include one son, Mark Bertrand and wife Cheryl of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Rebecca Fay Bertrand Watts and husband Adrian Sr. and Cindy Marie Bertrand Shortt and husband Chad all of Moss Bluff; eight grandchildren, Clint Cox and wife Lacie, Brandon Shortt and wife Akayla, Michael Shortt and wife Rheanna, Karlee Shortt, Emily Lopez, Scott Bertrand, Adrian Watts, Jr. and Jada Watts; four great grandchildren, Presley Shortt, Dylan Shortt, Paetyn Shortt and William Cox. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lucius Bertrand; her parents, William Achten and Pearl Oliver Achten; and one brother, William Achten, Jr.
Her funeral will be at 11a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will be at Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery.
