Eula Duplantis passed away on Friday morning after a short stay in the hospital. She was a vibrant 89 year old; her death was sudden and unexpected. She is now flying high in Heaven with her husband and our Dad and Paw Paw, Wilson “Peanut” Duplantis, Jr. Maw Maw was full of life and until the end was spunky and didn’t mince her words. Always a straight shooter, we will miss hearing her exact thoughts on everything from food to politics. Maw Maw served our community by working at the election polls for 50 years. She never met a stranger and wasn’t afraid to strike up a conversation with anyone. Maw Maw loved her dear dog Jenna and in recent years had many stray cats that she took care of. She loved to laugh and enjoyed playing bingo and watching Hallmark movies. She was the best cook and would often critique our cooking when it wasn’t up to par. She filled our bellies and hearts countless times with the love and attention she gave not only her dishes, but to us. She made a lasting impression on everyone who met her. We will forever cherish our memories of Sunday dinners and visits with the “Roux” of our gumbo. Without the roux, gumbo just isn’t the same and we will forever miss our sweet Mom and Maw Maw. Eula will be dearly missed by her son Rick Duplantis and wife Kathi of Independence, MO, daughters Cyndi Mire and husband Gary of Moss Bluff and Pam Croxdale and husband Pat of Moss Bluff. She also leaves to cherish her memories, her grandchildren Shane Croxdale, Shaun Croxdale, Ashleigh Schulz, Jada Mire, Kelly Doerr, Leslie Thompson, Dee Dee Monceaux, Brad Duplantis, Ricky Duplantis and eleven great grandchildren. Her brother Dubby Dartez and sisters Peggy Rousseau and Vi West. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, and her siblings Pete, Emily, Joyce, and Patsy. Visitation to be held January 22, 2018 at Hixson Funeral Home, Moss Bluff, from 5-9:00 pm, Rosary service at 6pm at the funeral home, resuming at 9 am Tuesday, January 23, 2018 until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 at the funeral home. Burial for Eula will be at Old Ritchie Cemetery following the funeral service. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at
