Moss Bluff- George Eugene Conrad, 77, was called to his heavenly home after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lake Charles to Ray and Christle Conrad. He served in the Naval Reserve for 10 years with a year of active duty during the crisis of the Bay of Pigs. He began his working career as a draftsman in Houston, TX; moved to Lake Charles finishing his career as a lab technician at a local refinery. He resided in Moss Bluff for the past 49 years. George was married to his high school sweetheart, Martina Sonnier Conrad. He enjoyed fishing, photography, and being with his family which he cherished.
He is survived by his wife, Martina Sonnier Conrad; children, Debra Watson (Ronnie), Janet Lowery, Carl Conrad (Missy), and Christy Almaguer (David) and nine grandchildren; brothers, Charles Roy Conrad, Steven Edgar Conrad, and Eddie Joe Conrad; and sister, Yvonne Leasure.
He is preceded in death by parents, Ray and Christle Conrad; brother, Stanley Ray Conrad; and sister, Ina Mae Corbello.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 29, from 6-10pm with a rosary at 7:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff and will resume Monday June 30, 9am until service time at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Msgr. Charles Dubois will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 30, at 10:00am in the church. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
