With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Howard Fredrick Party, affectionately known as Boy Big and Big Boy, who was born to Iveary (Parr) Upshaw on July 21, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois, and was called to glory on November 8, 2025.
At a very young age, he suffered lead poisoning, which caused the condition known as cerebral palsy. Though his challenges were great, his strength, joy, and loving spirit were even greater. He faced life with courage, humor, and a smile that could light up any room. Our brother shared an extraordinary bond with our dear mother, Iveary Upshaw, who passed away 17 years ago. He was truly the love of her life, and their connection was special and everlasting. Though he had a biological father who preceded him in death, it was William A. Upshaw, our father, who lovingly stepped in and raised him as his own. With patience, tenderness, and unwavering dedication, our dad cared for him every single day of his life. His love knew no limits - he is a true example of what it means to be a father. He found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved listening to the gospel music that was played for him, often lighting up at the familiar melodies. He especially enjoyed popcorn and chips - not just for the taste, but for the sound of the crunch that made him smile every time. He also had a wonderful sense of humor and a playful spirit. He could lie on you without a care in the world, but if you so much as rested your head on him, he'd move right away — always keeping everyone laughing with his funny ways.
He is survived by his devoted father, William A. Upshaw, his brothers Orlando C. Parr, Avery L. Minor, Daniel P. Minor, Warren A. Parr, and Dache D. Upshaw, his sister, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, one uncle, and two aunts, as well as a host of other family and friends who love him and will cherish his memory. Although he never married or had children of his own, the love he shared with his family was immeasurable.
Howard Fredrick Part - our Boy Big - will forever be remembered as a joy to all who knew him. His laughter, love, and light will remain with us always. Rest peacefully in the arms of our Lord, reunited with Mom, where joy and love never end.
The family will welcome the public for visitation at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff, Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm.
"Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation". John 5:28-29
