James Allen Cole died Monday, May 13, 2024, in the comfort of his home after a long battle with dementia. Mr. Cole was born in Centerpoint, Louisiana, to Lottie and William Cole on February 27, 1929, and was 95 years old.
He was a Navy veteran serving from 1948-1953. After his military career he became a Locomotive Engineer, first for Missouri Pacific and then Union Pacific Railroad. He is survived by his beloved wife Lena Patricia Cole to whom he was married for 60 years. He was a member of Moss Bluff Bible Church.
Funeral services will be held at Hixson Moss Bluff on Sunday, May 19, 2024, with visitation at 3:00 until time of service at 4:00 P.M. Private graveside services wil be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Pineville, Louisiana.
Mr. Cole had a passion for woodworking, making dozens of children's rocking chairs throughout his life. He also had a love for working with leather and made cow whips for many cattlemen both in Texas and Louisiana. Gardening filled many of his hours and he liked nothing better than to share the produce he grew. Music filled his heart, especially hymns of faith, but he also had a love for bluegrass music and played guitar from an early age. He traveled many miles each year to go to bluegrass festivals until he became unable to drive.
