Janice Ellis “Jan” Jones, 79, slipped quietly from this world into the arms of Jesus Tuesday, May 5 at a local hospital. Never one for girly frills, she could out fish most men, and never missed a Saints game. She loved The Lord, life, her family, a game of cards, good food, sweets and her cigarettes. In the last month of her life she released those things in reverse order until there was only Jesus.
Waiting on the other side, she was reunited with the love of her life, best fishing buddy and husband, Willie E “Billy” Jones and her big brother, Gayle Ellis. Jan leaves behind her 2 sons, Billy “Ray”, wife Peggy and Jerry, wife Kathy, 2 grandchildren Wil and Amanda, and 3 great grandchildren, Bethany, Shaylyn and Brayden, 4 siblings; Faye Calhoun, Truman Ellis, Linda Francis, and Melba Newman, and many nieces, nephews, friends and maybe a few foes. She was quite a woman and will be greatly missed.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, in Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. The Rev. Larry Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until service on Saturday.
Our prayer is that you accept the free gift of salvation Christ offers, give Him your heart and live, following the example His life gives us, reserving your place the Banquet Table.
See you soon Jan. I’ll deal the cards…
