

He was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana but lived most of his life in Moss Bluff and Topsy. He was a member of the Pentecostal faith, before his retirement he was an Operating Engineer. Lyn loved to hunt, fish, gar fish, shrimp, trap and set nets in the Calcasieu River, he loved all outdoors. He was an avid duck, deer, squirrel and hog hunter. He especially enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to shoot and deer hunt, he was very supportive of their rodeoing and barrel racing events. His family was his greatest love especially his grandchildren. Lyn was a volunteer fire fighter and a member of the Drainage Board in Topsy, he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Lyn was always willing to help others in need and always put others before himself.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Gill of Topsy; his mother Marie Gill of Moss Bluff; one son Jeremy Gill and wife Rebecca of Topsy; one daughter Heather Bertrand and husband Gary of Opelousas; two brothers Rusty Gill and Jimmy Gill of Moss Bluff; one sister Glenda Faye Moore from Montegut; five grandchildren Kody Christianson, Taylor Christianson, Jordyn Gill, Kyndal Gill and Bralyn Gill. He is preceded in death by his father Clyde Gill and his brother Daniel Gill. Special thanks to the Amedisys Hospice for their loving care.
His funeral will be at 11am Monday, August 4, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff; Rev Jon C. Hair will officiate. Burial will be in Old Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will be Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff from 5pm until 9pm and from 8am Monday until service.
