MOSS BLUFF - Kristen Le Konieczny-Cochran May 19, 1974 – April 6, 2013

Kristen passed away in her home surrounded by family friends after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 38 years old.

Kristen was a life-long resident of Westlake eventually settling in Moss Bluff; having also spent several years in Alameda and San Leandro, California. Kristen graduated from Westlake High School in 1992 and McNeese State University in 2000. She held a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Kristen was a one of a kind soul with a fiercely strong, adventurous and compassionate spirit. She had an enormous love and soft heart for animals of any kind; often rescuing and taking them into her own home. She was an advocate of the SWLA Humane Society, LaPaw Rescue, Bel’s No Kill Animal Shelter and the ASPCA. Kristen was also a Team Captain of the 2011 American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, where she demonstrated her desire and compassion for helping others. She enjoyed the outdoors and taking risks; Skydiving, scuba-diving and white water rafting, to name a few.

Kristen enjoyed a prosperous career in the Petro-Chemical Industry for over 10 years in the area of Materials Management and Expediting. Her most recent employer was The Turnaround Management Company at ExxonMobil in Beaumont, TX.

In 2012, Kristen and her husband of 6 years, Cory, gave the precious gift of adoption to their son Nathanial Grant Cochran, who is now 1 year old.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband and son, Cory and “Nate” Cochran of Moss Bluff; her parents, Hans and Fawn Konieczny of Moss Bluff; one sister, Kim and husband Kerry Pilcher of Westlake; 2 nieces and 1 nephew, whom she loved dearly and dedicated individual time and attention to each one on a consistent basis, Keaton and Kena Pilcher and Payton Cochran all of Westlake; Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Delorus and Kenny Cochran of Westlake; and 1 Brother-in-law, Jesse Cochran of Colorado. She is also survived by numerous family members from New York and Germany. Kristen was an exceptional person; daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. Her mark on this earth will not be forgotten. Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held at Hixson’s Funeral Home in Westlake on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00pm until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SWLA Humane Society or any local animal shelter, as this was her passion. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at

Our handprints in Alabama,
The majestic peacock in Arkansas, the endless rain at Astroworld and trail rides in Kisatchie. The inside jokes and "remember whens", those are the reasons we are the best of friends. Well heres to the nights that turned to mornings and Oh the secrets we never told! :-) Endless swapping of dresses boots and jeans. You once said" The only reason God didnt make us sisters, is because one mom couldnt handle us both"!. We saw the rockies & swam in the ocean, traveled from east coast to west. You explored the Redwoods as I danced on the islands. We met in Key West and raised a glass to Jimmy Buffets "somewhere theres a woman to blame". A million sunrises and sunsets and many farewells....You are off on another journey. And oh the stories we will have to tell. Kristen there will never be another you. And because you loved Pooh.....Piglet asked"Are we going to be friends forever?"
Pooh answered "EVEN LONGER, EVEN LONGER......
