Born on April 2, 1927, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Laura came from humble beginnings, but over nearly a century of life, she built something far greater, a legacy rich in love, connection, and unwavering support for those around her.
To many, she was the heart of every gathering and the center of an ever-growing circle of family and friendship. With a vibrant social life and a gift for bringing people together, Laura formed deep and lasting bonds that carried through every stage of her life.
Her love language was cooking. Through lovingly prepared meals, she nurtured generations, offering not just food, but comfort, joy, and belonging. Her kitchen and back porch were places of laughter and storytelling, where everyone felt welcome and cared for.
Above all, Laura was the nucleus of her family. With quiet strength and unwavering resilience, she created a home filled with warmth and generosity – values that will continue to shape those she loved for years to come.
She is survived by her children Wesley Goos and Juanita Munoz, their spouses Donna and Rick, grandchildren Shelly (Robert), Lesley (Sarah), Christa (Steve), Cali (Manuel), Kaitlin (Andrew) and 11 great-grandchildren Devin, Cole, Caleb, Mason, Andrew, Nicolas, Lexie, Alise, Eloise, Ria Mae, and one on the way, along with countless friends whose lives were enriched by her presence.
She is preceded in death by her beloved spouse of more than 60 years, Gordon Goos, parents Albert and Martha Armistead, and 9 siblings.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate a remarkable life well lived, beginning with a visitation on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 5–8 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Hixson Funeral Home, with interment at Goss Cemetery in Moss Bluff.
